West Yorkshire Police have a rare opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join their small busy team based in the Wakefield area. The post is a 12 month fixed term contract (with the possibility of a permanent position). This role offers agile working and operates a flexi scheme.

About us:
The Health and Safety team are a small friendly and busy team serving the health and safety needs of 9,000 police officer and police staff.

About you:
Are you a customer focused individual who can provide a professional service including advice, support resources and interventions to enable the successful resolution of a diverse range of health and safety issues within a framework of corporate and legislative requirements?

Do you have some post qualification experience in the application of health and safety legislation and hold the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent as a minimum?

Do you have the ability to interpret and provide advice on a diverse range of health and safety issues and travel around West Yorkshire, and when required through the UK?

We can’t stress enough that this is an excellent opportunity for candidates who may not meet all of the essential criteria of the role profile to take up this position and then develop into the role.

We would also be keen to hear from applicants who would be eligible to start further along the progression scheme, and in addition to the above requirements have also attained any or all of the following: Chartered Membership grade of IOSH, or equivalent, Fire Safety Qualification, experience of completing organisational health and safety audits, collating and reporting on statistics, developing and delivering presentations to all levels of management.
