Coroner’s Support Officer

Working on behalf of HM Coroner, Coroner’s Officers are the main point of contact for matters associated with the circumstances of sudden, violent, or unnatural death. The role of the Support Officer is to assist the Officers in providing the essential liaison between the Coroner’s Office, relatives of the deceased and other involved agencies.

As an integral part of the coronial team, you will provide a comprehensive administrative service to the department to ensure its statutory responsibilities can be met. To enable the Officers to prepare and present reports for the HM Coroner, you will obtain statements from witnesses, relatives of the deceased, and other involved agencies. You will also record and update information using appropriate IT systems, as well as collate accurate and timely information to guide and support the bereaved.

With proven administrative proficiency, IT and communication skills, you will have the ability to multi-task and to work under pressure. Attention to detail and the capacity to handle complex and sensitive information are also essential requirements.
