The Regional Scientific Support Service which forms part of West Yorkshire Police supplies Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) services to the Yorkshire and Humber police forces. Crime Scene Investigators are locally based within the communities they serve. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Humberside Police area CSI unit based in Brigg North Lincolnshire where we are looking to recruit two Crime Scene Investigators. We are looking for candidates that not only will become experienced CSI’s but have the potential of progressing to a Senior Crime Scene Investigator role.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who are wishing to develop a career within the Crime Scene Investigation profession, and as such we are seeking highly motivated individuals with an investigative mind set, capable of displaying a high standard of problem solving ability. You will need to be self-confident, capable of learning quickly and have good communication skills. You will also need to hold a full UK driving licence.

Training
Crime Scene Investigators in the region are trained to high national standards working to strict regulations and procedures. The successful candidates will have all the necessary training provided, which will involve mentoring with qualified CSI’s, followed by a suite of formal training courses all of which will be provided for you. On successful completion of the initial training you will work independently attending all types of crime scenes (predominantly volume crime) recovering forensic evidence in support of criminal investigations and supporting Senior CSI’s at serious crimes.

Remuneration and work pattern
You will be expected to work in a 7day rotating shift pattern between the hours of 07:00 and 23:00, working two weekends per month with midweek days off. You will be paid monthly which includes an additional 14% shift allowance and a weekend working allowance, which enhances overall pay to between £25,000 and £32,000 plus overtime payments. You will be entitled to a generous annual leave allowance which increases with service and you will be automatically enrolled into the local government pension scheme.

Progression
Future promotion opportunities exist to progress to Senior CSI level which would attract a salary between £32,000 to £39,000, and equip you to carry out major crime scene examinations. All necessary training needs will be delivered by a dedicated in house CSI training team.
As this is a career progression scheme candidates who possess the requisite experience and knowledge may be considered eligible to start further along the salary scale.
